Water Tanks-Weatherizing
The water tanks are made of plastic. While that makes them lightweight and durable in the short-term, they are not built to withstand the extreme heat and cold that are present at Toad Hollow. Without weatherization, the tanks might last (insert time). With weatherization, they may last (insert time). So here is that process.
Before we could start working on the outside of the tanks we had to work on the insides. The tanks have an overflow valve near the bottom in case the water needs to be drained. But in order to get the flat-bottomed tanks to drain properly we had to pour cement to create a slanted floor. Nathan was the one who volunteered to do the work inside the tanks.
Nathan worked on pouring and smoothing the cement floor (it was hot in there) while Les and our friend Susan prepared the cement, put it in buckets, and handed it down to Nathan.
After that we started working on the outside.
(Kristy add content about weatherizing. List the different layers of insulation, stucco, etc. and why that was necessary)
