Gardens

There are currently two areas that are being used as the primary kitchen gardens: the main garden and the cantaloupe garden. The main garden has grown mostly vegetables including corn, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, eggplant, kale, lettuce, peppers, carrots, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, beets, kohlrabi, broccoli, cauliflower, winter squash, and whatnot. The cantaloupe garden has grown melons such as cantaloupe and watermelon. These gardens at Toad Hollow are currently Les and Cindy’s domain. They have done all of the work and planning for growing and harvesting vegetables and fruits since they moved down to the homestead in 2018. Before we arrived the previous owners, Ken and Peggy spent many years building up the soil as they gardened and laid the groundwork for the success of growing food on the homestead.

Here are some photos and timelapse videos showing the progress of the various gardens throughout the years.
